The Best LRs of GD04 Phantom Aria
With the release of GD04 Phantom Aria, there are 12 new LR cards in the Gundam Card Game. While all the LRs from this set are quite good, these are the few that stand out more than the others at first glance.
1. Neo Zeong (GD04-033)
The Neo Zeong comes out quite late at lvl 9, with a cost of 8. However, the fact that he does 3 damage on deploy of a Neo Zeon unit, which helps stabilize into the late game. Its link in Full Frontal(ST03-010) also allows it to do an additional 3 damage on the same turn it is linked due to Full Frontals effect to play out another Lvl. 4 or lower Neo Zeon or Zeon unit from the hand. The Neo Zeongs linked ability allows its damaging effect to also apply to units that aren't originally Neo Zeon as well, making his versatility much better in dual colored decks. Overall, the Neo Zeong is an LR that could potentially end the game the moment it is deployed.
2. Destiny Gundam (GD04-050)
The Destiny Gundam by itself isn't too impressive, although it is one of the few units that always has High-Maneuver. What makes the Destiny Gundam so strong is its ability to deploy Minerva Squad units from the trash while paired with a pilot. Essentially making the trash another resource to play cards from. The destiny Gundam being Lvl. 7 is a bit rough in the early game, however the Minerva Squad units it can bring back to help stabilize and eventually overwhelm your opponent. Its link pilot in Shinn Asuka(ST09-008) allows you to re-stand a resource on attack and offers 3 AP and 0 HP, making the Destiny Gundam a glass cannon.
3. Zeong (GD04-017)
A very close 3rd, the Zeong is only below the Destiny Gundam because of its low 4 AP and 3 HP stat line for a Lvl. 6 Unit. The Zeong is powerful because if it is paired with a (Newtype) Pilot, it can spawn in 2 tokens (2 AP and 1 HP) that are not rested, making the tokens harder to get rid of the turn they are deployed. Essentially making it a 2 cards for 3 units (potentially 4) deal. The Zeong links with Char Aznable(ST03-011) and Quattro Bajeena(GD02-098) as he is counted as Char Aznable. The Zeong's 2nd effect is that when it is destroyed, it deploys another token (3 AP and 1 HP) that is rested. This token is essentially a free unit if the Zeong ever gets destroyed before you finish off your opponent.
Honorable Mention - Turn A Gundam (GD04-067)
The Turn A Gundam is a Lvl. 5 unit and costs 3 resource to deploy it and has a stat line of 4 AP and 4 HP. Its effect to copy any key word (Ex. Breach) from any players trash (Errata) and gain +1 AP for 1 resource is quite good as an unpaired unit. The only problem with the Turn A Gundam is that it needs a unit with an unconditional key word in the trash to activate its effect. Its pilot is Loran Cehack(GD04-097) who, when linked, can return a 3 HP enemy unit back to the owner's hand. The Turn A Gundam, while a strong card, just isn't quite as strong as the other cards in this list, as it can be removed from the field quite easily as a 4 AP and 4 HP unit.
